Happy Bachelorette, Shera!!!

I believe you summed it up perfectly:
"Chicago, you are bad for my liver
but good for my soul."
~Dr. Shera Teitge

Cannot wait to celebrate in September :)

Reminder: Don't Beat Yourself Up!

While in Victoria, a group of us decided
to climb Mt. Douglas before the wedding.

850 feet up,

(and a whole lotta perspiration later)
I was all sorts of upset with myself for feeling so out of shape.

 {insert me trailing behind here}

Once we were off the rock and back onto the trail,
we decided to run the rest of the way downhill.

While catching our breath at the end, a beautiful woman in her 70's walked past us with a big smile on her face and said,
"Ahh, to be young, fun, fit and foolish!"

Sometimes it's nice to put your life
and physical well-being into perspective :)

Dear July, COME BACK!

I had every intention of sending "Christmas in July" cards
because I never got around to them over the holidays.
Then I realized I am an idiot for thinking
that July would be any different...

Dear Summer,
Please stop going by so fast.
I want to soak it all in!!!!!
Love,
Me

Canada, eh?!

I told my campers that I would be gone for a few days because I would be visiting the country directly above the United States.

So I asked, "Does anyone know what country that might be?"

After which Harlow raised her hand and immediately shouted out, "Heaven!?"

Little did I know, she was actually right...

If I could canoe my way back to the Pacific Northwest, I'd be buckling up my life jacket right this minute. As soon as recovered from the wedding awesomeness, there will be a very long heartfelt post about my new-found feelings for our neighbors above and my adoration with Vancouver  & Victoria.

To Heather & Mark,
Thank you beyond thank you for introducing me to this wonderful part of the world. Thank you for sharing your INCREDIBLE wedding week with us all; and thank you, most of all, for inspiring everyone there by your unconditional love and encouragement for one another. May we all be so lucky!

Mother Daughter Book Club

I really enjoyed this month's book by Stephanie Cornwall

It's really lovely and imaginative. It's a tale of the young, poor, prodigiously gifted, yet still unrecognized, Claude Monet.

It will inspire you and leave you filled with the utmost respect for art, rebellion, love and the struggle to achieve in life what you're most passionate about.

Pre-school Reunion Dinner

30 years of friendship later...
Cody's getting married.
Nick's opening up the Chicago Chop Shop.
I'm starting grad school in just a month.
Brendan bought an apartment and invited us to see.

Much to celebrate this year!

Amazeballs

Over the years, my handwriting has gone to complete and total shit. So I was over the moon to hear from my brother that there is a website that will create a font for me based on my very best efforts at my personal penmanship. They just sent an example back and I'm BLOWN AWAY by its authenticity!

NAILED IT

Be sure to check out Noteriffic :)
