They say you just have to
but unfortunately tonight
I broke the act :(
New job. New office. New goals.
New part of downtown. New modes of transport.
New apartment. New sounds. New time zone...
Let's face it, my 6th sense is way outta wack.
But I've embraced the changes in full force,
and have absolutely just been "goin with it" :)
So I know I shouldn't hang my head on one small hick up,
but holy hot damn I soo embarrassed myself tonight :(
Setting: Purple line express train
Time: 7pm CST
Admittedly I hadn't taken the El home yet from the office
(partially because I heart the bus, partially 'cause I love cabs ;)
So tonight, when the train was in a fast stretch and made
the double curve action between Sedgwick and Armitage
I literally almost lost my lunch!
The poor man sitting next to me saw my face
(which, not gonna lie, probably looked a little like this)
and (yes, while my hand was inappropriately on his thigh)
then assured me with his Midwestern niceness that
then assured me with his Midwestern niceness that
"The train won't actually fall off the tracks, promise!"
I was beyond mortified that he had to console me.
Me! The one who has willingly jumped out of an airplane. Twice!
Me! The one who has willingly jumped out of an airplane. Twice!
Good God, three years of the Manhattan grid system and you'd think I'd forgotten that there are any other ways to travel than in a perfectly g*damn straight line!
But hell, if that's the only hick-up I have to complain about in this whole transition, I'll take it. Aaaand, I think I'll also go back to taking the bus for a while ;)
