My mom called tonight, exactly at the moment that I was
snapping this pic on Houston Street, at Avenue C.
I was waiting for my comforter to get through the spin cycle,
so that I could switch it to the dryer, precisely at 8:14pm*

change so that the next "renter" can immediately use the wash!)
She asked me 8 hundred questions per usual, to which I honorarily answered (as shortly and quickly as humanly possible) so to carry on with my time consuming antics.
As we hung up, for the umpteenth time, I promised myself that
the "next" time she calls, I will not be so short.
She is, after all, the reason I am alive.
And for that I owe everything.

But I will admit, the second I was told (for the umpteenth time), that she "literally drools over babies she sees on the street" and
"is counting down the days until we give her grandchildren" --
I completely zoned out.

I drifted back to the world where I witness seldom city gardens. The world where I often think and care more about gay rights, than I do for finding the man that I should marry.
After we hung up, I ran a few errands during the 30 minute dryer cycle -- I mentally beat myself up for not being as respectful as I should have been, and proceeded to pick up a few staple items from the corner bodega. When I handed the cashier my $21.50 for the: bottle of wine, "Can't Believe It's Not Butter", and single serving milk chug, I had a laugh when he handed me the change ...
It hit me harder then ever that today, I take care of just one.
Yet although single, I am never alone. My immediate family means the WORLD to me and everyone that knows me well, knows that I'd do absolutely anything for my friends (and vice-versa!).

Point of post:
I guess the honest truth is that I have the utmost faith that
there will be a day when I buy more milk than wine.
I know my priorities will drastically change and I will be so lucky to care more for another, than for myself :)

But I'm so incredibly thankful for my life as I currently love and know it. And for that I raise a glass, I fold my now-clean laundry, and look forward to whatever it may be that's in store!
In the meantime,
I'll be doing my god damn best to help
