Maybe not one of Oprah's Book Club selects ;)

... but I totally pre-ordered this for my Grandma Stella,
so that we can laugh together about our lives when I am home :)

All My Friends Are Dead -- If you're a dinosaur, all of your friends are dead. If you're a pirate, all of your friends have scurvy. If you're a tree, all of your friends are end tables. Each page of this laugh-out-loud illustrated humor book showcases the downside of being everything from a clown to a cassette tape to a zombie. Cute and dark all at once, this hilarious children's book for adults teaches valuable lessons about life while exploring each cartoon character's unique grievance and wide-eyed predicament. From the sock whose only friends have gone missing to the houseplant whose friends are being slowly killed by irresponsible plant owners (like you), All My Friends Are Dead presents a delightful primer for laughing at the inevitable.

Avery Monsen is an actor, artist, and writer.
Jory John is a writer, editor, and journalist.
They are friends, and neither is dead. Yet.

Mental Whip Cream :)

After work last night I had a major case of the Mondays ...
Was still in recovery from an absolutely awesome weekend in Philly, and trying to digest a ton of new changes/neat additions with work stuffs. Needless to say, I was in need of a little dose of
mental nothingness
.

So I walked over to Whole Foods, made a yummy to-go box, and ate dinner by my lonesome with my feet up in the last row of the Sunshine Cinema to enjoy and laugh at every moment of the movie, Babies :)

I swear it's not just because I'm female that I loved this Focus Feature. The cinematography is so beautifully done that the screen is straight up eye candy -- and the babies are so incredibly funny you cannot help but to belly laugh at many parts :)

Although I'm not ready to take on the responsibility at this point in my life, it made me feel so happy for all my friends who have little ones in their lives. What a joy!

Looking for a "Meapster" ;)

Over the weekend two of my besties hosted one helluva BBQ --
during which, countless cocktails and funnies were shared :)

And somewhere in between the umpteen rounds of flip cup
and beer pong, we managed to squeeze in the "serious" convos,
ya know, the ones about work/life/dating/marriage/babes/
hopes/dreams/and fears of the failing economy ...
(insert more booze here)

And maybe it was just the aforementioned alchi speaking, but when asked, "What are you actually looking for in a guy, Stace?"
I replied, "I still don't really know, but I honestly love the best of Chicago and Zoo York, so I'm basically looking for like, a Meapster. Ya know, half meat head -- half hipster."

And we all laughed,
but I was being serious!

Hahaha
kinda ;)

Confession:

Yesterday I had the privilege to attend the Landmark Ventures 2010 Media Technology Summit. Murti, the co-founder of Peanut Labs, was a featured panel presenter and let me tell ya, I was one proud Nut watching him up on stage :) I've always admired the brilliant minds of the guys behind our ever growing start-up, but I'm not gonna lie -- when the man who invented Google Analytics spoke, I pretty much wanted to french kiss his brain cells!

Can you even image what it would be like to think like that?!?
Clearly I cannot.

So I just wanted to put a major
kudos it into the universe to all the "tech geeks" out there who do what they do. Because without peeps like these, I wouldn't be able to simply press a button to publish this post. And let's face it, the blogosphere just wouldn't be complete without a lil' Zippidy Do Da in it. HA! Toootally joking

Personally, I just wish I'd invented these ...

"Little by little, Stacers. Little by little ..."

Growing up my Grandma Stella used to repeat this saying
over and over again.

And I'm not gonna lie, it took
years for me to actually understand what she meant by it.

And to this day, my impatient "what's next?" lifestyle
still often fails to remember, or adhere to this simple,
yet infinitely wise advice.

But there are moments like tonight,
when it's meaning hits me like a brick shit house ...

Because tonight when I logged onto Blogger, it notified me that this entry marks my SEVEN-HUNDREDTH post.
Wo!
I remember thinking 100 was an accomplishment,
or a slight glimpse of hope that I'd cured A.D.D ;)

So two years and 700 scribbles later,
I just thought I'd take a moment to pause, and be thankful
for what can be created, achieved and learned from ...
little by little :)

Happy 100th Postday!!

This "Jack of Many, Master of None"
has actually stuck with something!!

And as a result,
today my bloggidy-blog-blog is 100 posts old :)

Hip Hip Hoooooooray!!

But what does one write about on such a momentous occasion?

I thought about this last night
and then immediately shut my computer off.

The thing is,
you can't think about these things,
they just have come ...
And they always do!

That's what I've loved most about blogging ... it's never forced. Just thoughts out loud. Impulsive. Scheduleless. Spontaneous. Random. Thoughts. And pictures. Gotta love the pictures. All brought about by the things in life that just happen to happen :)

So, I've decided to write this entry about the first thought that came to mind last night when I started over thinking.

First thought: "I am totally still scarred from that damn '100' project in the 1st grade."
Second thought: "I hope that I live to be 100"

So, today I'd like to share the ever-so-scarring story
from Mrs. Kirch's first grade classroom ...

I was all of seven years old.
I wore a lot of hand-me-down clothes.
And I loved anything that was loved by my older siblings.
Whatever Jamie and Stephen said, I did.

So when Mrs. Kirch gave us the homework assignment to bring in "100 of the same thing" -
I immediately turned to the dynamic duo for advice.

At the time,
Stephen was 10, and at the peak of his smart ass phase.
Jamie was 13, and as always, was using my parent's landline.

So when I asked my wiser older brother what he thought I should bring for my "100 project", he replied
"boogers!"
(
obviously)

And for weeks, I picked my poor little nose.
And then I returned to class, ever-so-proud,
of my bacteria based collection.

And I will NEVER forget that once short walk from my designated coat hook, to my designated desk.

Erin Estey had perfectly glued 100 pennies to a poster board.
Juan Romo made a tree house out of 100 twigs.
Jenny Mathison-Moore made a snow man out of 100 cotton balls.
Chris Connell built a replica of the Sears Tower with 100 legos.
Brooke Bicknell baked 100 sugar cookies
(
she had a stay home mom)
Lacey Lofton made a mosaic from 100 pieces of colored glass
(
she was an only child)

And then there was me ...
With my god damn 8.5 x 11 sheet of loose leaf paper,
covered in 100 hand picked boogers.

I wanted to die.
No, I was past death.
At that very moment in life, I would have rather dropped my lunch tray in the cafeteria WITH my pants down.
Yep, it was that bad.

I'll never forget folding that white sheet of paper into a million little pieces and ever-so-meekishly telling Mrs. Kirch that
"I'd forgotten mine at home."
(Note: this was VERY unlike me. I loved homework!
I lived for shit like this!
)

And I was respectful in praising everyone else's projects.
And I ate Brooke Bicknell's (stuupid f*&%king) sugar cookie.
And I complimented Juan Romo's tree house (even though I thought he smelled and that his twig idea was tooootally lame).

(Funny how twenty years later
this still stays with me like it was yesterday)

So, the point of the story is this:
If I were to be given the same assignment from Mrs. Kirch today,

I would bring in my blog :)

I'd bring these 100 posts,
and I would tell Lacey Lofton to shove her stained glass window up her ass!

And I'd tell Erin Estey that she should have just brought in a dollar
and saved herself the glue-job on the 100 pennies.

And then I'd probably drop my tray in the cafeteria
(
with my pants down)
just because it's funny!

BECAUSE LIFE IS INCREDIBLY FUNNY ...
We all just need to take a little more time to laugh about it :)

So cheers!
Cheers to smart ass big brothers!
Cheers to 100 hand picked boogers!
And cheers to 100 more blog posts!

The Recipe of a Great Weekend

Preheat the temperature of New York City to 80 degrees

Pour cold drinks into pint glasses

Chill with great friends on the rooftop of
Me'Bar,
while starring straight up at the Empire State Building :)

Combine one hot rental ride,
with three fantastic companions

Then mix together loads of laughs and lots of great sites

Let settle for several hours to relax and cool down

Eat and enjoy!

A big thanks to the Gundrum clan for such a fun weekend :)
Can't wait for the next visit!

Pizza, pasta, and a whole lotta pretty people

Last night a big group of us went to din-din at
to celebrate the bdays of our fantastic friends, Nick & Bari :)

I knew Pulino's was going to have great food,
but holy wow, the whole restaurant experience
pretty much exceeded my wildest dinner dreams!

We were first greeted by the host,
and I couldn't take my eyes off him because I'm serious,
he looked identical to the human version of a Na'vi
I wanted to ask him what Pandora was actually like,
but fortunately, refrained.

I thought the whiskey-lined walls were eye-candy enough
but not gonna lie, when Ed Burns & Christy Turlington walked in
accompanied by Brian Williams and his wife
I kinda eeeeeked a little.

Allow me to state for the record that watching a super model eat pizza, is straight up fun ;)

For real though, celeb sightings aside,
I enjoyed every moment of this dinner amongst great friends,
and I would highly recommend trying this new yummy spot.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY(S) NICK & BARI!!

Rain, Rain ... GO AWAY!!

"YouTooth.com"

Confession:
I'm not the most responsible human being.
But since you already knew that,
I guess I will narrow it down to admit that
I'm also not the most responsible
bridesmaid ...

This past Fall the Best Man and I took it upon ourselves
to host a "little" post-party after our best friends' wedding.

Unfortunately,
this entailed a cheese platter, a whole lotta Coors Light,
and a chipped front tooth, by yours truly :(

Now that I've had 6 months to digest the debauchery,
I can actually laugh at the "crack-up" caught on camera.

My dentist however,
does not find my shenanigans so funny.
This morning at the follow-up our convo went as such:

Dentist lady: Your cap is holding nicely.

Me: Thanks! I haven't bitten into apples or corn-on-the-cob, just like you advised. I also haven't ridden on any hotel luggage carriers while intoxed since then -- but I guess that should've just been common sense from the get-go ;) Hahaha

Dentist lady: Well, I'm glad you can laugh at yourself.

Me: Ya, me and like 400 others ... it's a hit on YouTube!
I'm thinking about starting a micro-site called "YouTooth" for all the other boneheads out there who have chipped their teeths too.
Could be funny, whatdaya think?

Dentist lady: (crickets)

Strike two for Stacey ...
Bust!

Confession:

When I make a PBJ for lunch,
I wouldn't think to cut it any other way
than directly in half, to make two rectangles ...

However,
when making a grilled-cheese for lunch,
I wouldn't think to cut it any other way
than directly in half, to make two triangles ...

And that's all I have to say about that!

More completely pointless posts coming soon ;)

In the meantime,
HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS
