The Adventures of a Lone Guitar

One of the things on my "to do" list this week was to ship my buddy's guitar to Missouri. Random, for sure. But such is life. And I love it :)

Nick had a gig there last night and since they're in the process of relocating back from Berlin, he figured he could borrow a guitar from Gibson (since he rocks and they sponsor him!), but as the off-chance should have it, they didn't have an extra to loan in that location. Bust.

{insert scramble session here to figure out how to get his spare guitar from my apartment in Chicago to St. Louis, overnight, without breaking the bank}

BOOM!  THE GREYHOUND BUS

Did you know you can pay to put baggage on a bus?

Me neither.

But it worked!

Not gonna lie, walking into the Greyhound Station downtown at Harrison & S. Des Plaines with a guitar was one of the more awesome experiences I've had as of recent. One guy (sans teeth) asked, "Are you goin to Nashville with that geeee-tar?" It was all too great a moment for me to even conjure a response. I just smiled. As if I was that girl from Once. Because in my head at that moment, I was totally that girl from Once.

Another guy asked me if he could bum a smoke and I was slightly offended because in my mind in that moment, I was still a musician. Duh. And I sure as shit don't know any real musicians who smoke. So I was all sorts a sassy like, "No, I don't have any." Then I realized that it was -2 degrees outside and with all my mismatched layers I looked entirely homeless so I couldn't really take offense to his request given my "Hobo Chic" attire.

And I digress. Sorry.

Back to the bag story!

$44.80 later, Nick's guitar was being sent through security to board a bus by it's lonesome to good ole St. Louis.

And exactly 24 hours later...
SHAZAM! Reunited at last :)

If you haven't had a chance to keep up with Nick Howard's awesomeness, here's the latest and greatest:

After winning The Voice of Germany, Nick went on to tour throughout Europe and moved to LA for the summer to write and record his latest album. He recently performed on The Voice of China and has just put out yet another hit single. As if that's not wild enough, today he released his duet with Lenka which you can buy right here

Several writing/recording stints in Nashville and many showcases later, they'll be back on the road all throughout Europe starting this March to headline for Boyce Avenue.

You can follow him on Facebook here :)

CHEERS TO YOUR CONTINUED SUCCESS, NICK & KATES!
You inspire me on every level humanly possible. I love your guts.

xoxo
